2020-02-19 Bovey-Parke led by Christine

On a drizzly day nine walkers met at The Dolphin Hotel in Bovey Tracey. We walked along Station Road and turned into the park. The river Bovey was flowing quite fast.

We walked through the park and had to cross over the road, as the path under the bridge was flooded. We continued along the old railway line, which was quite firm underfoot despite all the rain.
We walked to the end of the track and then walked down to the road, having stopped to view a toadstool recently carved from a tree stump. We walked under the bridge and turned right on the road towards Lustleigh. The road straight ahead, which leads to the back of Parke was flooded. The river Bovey was in full flow at the small bridge. As we walked up the road we saw the river cascading down and stopped to watch a branch waving in the water. We walked under another bridge to the start of the old railway track and walked back to Bovey. Once we reached Station Road four of us did a short walk into town before returning to the Dolphin Hotel.
We had an enjoyable lunch where we were joined by Tony, Jenni, Graham, Jo, David, Maureen and Ernie. It was great to see them all.
